Botox®

Botox® is an injectable drug that can be used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment works by relaxing muscles, which helps prevent wrinkles from forming. Botox® may not be suitable for everyone, so it is important that it only be administered by doctors experienced with facial aesthetics. Dr. Cobinnah and her trained medical staff ensure that you get all the benefits of Botox® without the associated risks.

People who are good candidates for Botox® injections include those who want to smoothen lines around their eyes, forehead wrinkles, or crow’s feet.

About Botox

Botox® is made from botulinum toxin: a neurotoxic protein found in bacteria that paralyze the muscles. Muscles relax and contract less frequently when injected with Botox; this evens out the appearance of wrinkles. Botox® can also be used to treat excessive sweating or crossed eyes.

Botox® is considered a minimally-invasive treatment; this means there is no downtime required. Your specialist will apply a cold pack to the area being injected. This is done to help reduce any discomfort or swelling that you’re experiencing. The procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes, and you can continue your day as normal right after treatment.

Some people may experience redness or bruising over the area injected with Botox, but these side effects should subside within a few days.

Benefits of Botox

One of the primary benefits that you will experience following a Botox® treatment is improved skin texture. With less movement in your facial muscles, there won’t be any more creases around your eyes, forehead lines, or other fine lines in the treated area. These effects last for four to six months.

FAQs

You should see results immediately following your treatment. However, it can take up to two weeks before you notice the full effects.

Botox® is injected with a very fine needle, and the dosage varies based on the area being treated. Generally, patients need between 10 to 30 units of Botox® per treatment session depending upon the individual’s need and history with the treatment.
