IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial or photorejuvenation is a safe and effective treatment that uses light wavelengths to reverse mild sun damage, minimize wrinkles and brown spots on the skin, or reduce hyperpigmentation.

It is a popular treatment for long-term skin care as there is minimal downtime associated with this procedure and no discomfort during treatment.

About IPL Photofacial Treatment

It is critical that your doctor has correctly diagnosed your condition before beginning treatment. Dr. Cobbinah will advise you on whether or not the results you desire can be met with a photofacial or recommend some other options that are more suitable for your skin.

IPL therapy is a non-ablative resurfacing technique which means that it targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without harming the top layers of skin (epidermis). You may feel some warmth or tingling during treatment, but it usually only lasts for a few minutes.

This procedure typically has little to no downtime, and there’s nothing that needs to be done before or after treatment, unlike many other skin treatments. However, it is recommended to apply a good sunscreen after treatment.

Benefits of IPL Photofacial Treatment

IPL therapy can help improve your skin’s overall appearance by reducing wrinkles and brown spots, as well as minimizing the visibility of broken capillaries or redness around the nose and cheeks. It also reduces hyperpigmentation such as sun damage, age spots, and freckles.

IPL therapy is a useful treatment for those who want to improve the overall appearance of their facial skin but don’t have time for extensive recovery from surgery or downtime that might be required after laser treatments. It is important to note that you should always ask your doctor about possible side effects since not everyone will benefit from this type of treatment.

FAQs

Every 30 – 40 days, the body produces new skin cells. Because of this, IPL treatments should be done every four weeks to allow the body to heal and return to normal before the next treatment. It is generally advised that patients receive, on average, 4 – 6 IPL treatments four weeks apart for the greatest IPL effects.

Depending on the size and number of target regions, IPL sessions generally last 30-45 minutes. There is nothing that you need to do before or after this treatment. It is often scheduled as a lunchtime procedure, and you can return to your normal activities right after it.

This treatment is not recommended for people with autoimmune disorders, active infections on the skin or face, severe scarring, or using certain medications or retinoid creams. Be sure to talk to Dr. Cobbinah about any potential risks or contraindications before undergoing this procedure.
