What Are The Most Effective Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?

A combination of natural aging, lifestyle, and environmental exposures can lead to skin that looks tired, uneven, or older. Skin rejuvenation treatments use different methods to trigger skin renewal, stimulating your skin to act younger and restore a bright, youthful surface. At Essential Med Clinic & Aesthetics, we offer a range of options, so we always have one that suits your goals and schedule.

What are Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?

Many people who visit Essential Med Clinic & Aesthetics are looking for help with rough, aging, or hyperpigmented skin. Skin rejuvenation treatments use different methods to produce changes in your skin, triggering new collagen development and bringing healthy new skin cells to the surface. These treatments can address a wide range of skin concerns, including pigmentation problems, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scars. Each of our treatment methods works differently so that we can choose the best one for your individual needs.

Our skin rejuvenation treatments often have minimal downtime and offer an effective way to dramatically improve your skin, usually over a series of sessions. Individuals of all ages can benefit, although those with deeper skin issues may need more treatments. If you are frustrated with the appearance of your skin and looking for a smoother, more even look, skin rejuvenation can help you achieve it.

What are the Most Effective Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?

While all our skin rejuvenation options are effective, we can choose one that is targeted to your goals. Each option may be more beneficial for different skin types or conditions.

Cutera xeo® and Excel HR

These two laser systems are among our preferred methods of skin rejuvenation. They are fractional lasers that treat tiny channels of the skin while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. They use a wavelength that travels through the outer layer of skin and transfers thermal energy into the cells of the dermis. The heat stimulates these cells to produce more collagen. It also resurfaces the skin with smoother, healthier new skin cells.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a customizable treatment that uses acids such as glycolic, salicylic, and trichloroacetic (TCA) acids. The acids in a chemical peel break up the bonds between the dead and damaged outer layers of your skin, peeling them away to reveal a smooth, rejuvenated surface. Chemical peels come in a wide variety of strengths and may contain other ingredients to target specific conditions.

Laser Genesis

This non-invasive laser treatment specializes in providing brighter, more even-toned skin. It works deep in the dermis to activate collagen-producing cells. At the same time, it brings a new, smoother layer of cells to the surface and eliminates hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and signs of aging or sun damage. Laser Genesis is gentle enough for almost anyone while still achieving remarkable results.

Microneedling

Microneedling uses tiny needles that penetrate the skin to a controlled depth, creating channels that reach into the dermis. These channels trigger the surrounding cells to flood the area with healing and growth factors. They also initiate new collagen formation that leaves skin firmer and smooths fine lines and wrinkles.

What can Skin Rejuvenation Treat?

One benefit of our skin rejuvenation treatments is that they manage many different skin concerns simultaneously. Instead of seeing improvements in wrinkles or dark spots alone, you see significant improvements in your skin’s overall texture, tone, and brightness. We recommend skin rejuvenation treatment for:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin laxity
  • Dullness
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Rough texture

Discuss all your skin concerns during your consultation so your provider can select the best treatment for you.

Is There Any Downtime After Skin Rejuvenation?

Our skin rejuvenation treatments generally have little to no downtime. The most common effect after treatment is a sunburn-like redness and sensitivity that fades within a day or two. More intensive settings can result in a few days of redness and minor peeling. In all cases, your skin requires consistent sun protection after treatment. Your provider will tell you what to expect and recommend products to use after treatment if your skin would benefit.

How Many Skin Rejuvenation Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments needed to achieve your skin goals will depend on several factors, including:

  • The type of skin rejuvenation treatment
  • Your individualized treatment settings
  • The type and severity of your skin concerns
  • Your response to treatment

Most types of skin rejuvenation require a series of treatments. You can expect at least two or three sessions to achieve your best results, and some people will require more. Your consultation will allow us to assess your skin and suggest a treatment plan that fits your schedule.

What Results Will I See With Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?

You may start to notice improvements in your skin within a few days of treatment as new skin cells are brought to the surface. Full results develop over time as your skin produces new collagen. You will usually enjoy your best results about three months after your last treatment.

While the results of skin rejuvenation treatment are long-lasting, your collagen production will slow back down over time. Maintenance treatments can keep your skin looking smooth and refreshed. Most people find that they can maintain consistent results with one to two sessions per year.

You will notice that your skin’s texture feels smoother and softer while dark spots and sun damage have faded. Your skin will also look firmer with a youthful elasticity and resilience. An overall healthy glow might make envious people ask you about your skincare routine.

Am I a Good Candidate for Skin Rejuvenation?

Almost all healthy adults are good candidates for skin rejuvenation treatments. With so many options, all skin types and tones have a choice that is ideal for their needs. People who are not good candidates for one type of treatment can often benefit from a different one. Candidates should have achievable goals and expectations.

You should not have skin rejuvenation treatments on irritated or damaged skin. You may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions. Your provider may suggest that you avoid some medications and supplements shortly before treatment.

I always feel listened to by Dr. Cobbinah. As a mom, this is important because we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. She reminds me to take care of myself whenever I visit. I typically leave feeling less stressed than before.
